Jive Desktop

This app is in Private Beta.

Jive Desktop moves your business communications to your desktop. This softphone allows you to monitor your contacts’ availability, place web-based calls, send SMS text messages, chat, and manage your directory—all without touching a traditional deskphone. Additionally, Jive Desktop allows you to manage your voicemail settings, build your personal dial plan (Find/Me Follow Me), launch GoToMeeting, and set up fax-to-email in real time.

Admin Setup Required

Before you can use Jive Desktop, you must have a registered JiveID and at least one device assigned to you by a system admin.


Install Jive Desktop

1. Download Jive Integrations for your operating system:

2. Open and run the downloaded install file.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions.


Access Jive Desktop

1. Open Jive Desktop.

2. Enter your Email Address (JiveID) and Password.

3. Click [SIGN IN].

Make Jive Desktop your default app for outgoing calls

Mac

1. Open Facetime.

2. Click on Facetime in the menu bar and go to Preferences.

3. Choose Jive from the Default for calls options.

Windows

1. Search for protocol.

2. Select Choose a default app for each protocol.

3. Scroll to TEL and choose Jive.

Sign Out
Signs out of Jive Desktop.

ActivityProvides access to your call log, SMS text/chat messages, and voicemails. Blue icons appear when there is new activity.
Recent ContactsDisplays the contacts with the most recent activity.
FavoritesDisplays all your favorite contacts. To add a contact to your favorites, click the star icon in their contact card.
Presence MonitoringAllows you to visually monitor your contacts to know whether or not they are on an active call.
  • Red = Contact is unavailable
  • Green = Contact is available
  • Empty = Presence monitoring is not available for this contact
Line SelectorDefines which line and device is used to make/receive calls. This does not affect SMS text or chat messages.


Button Guide


Make a Call

closeDialer.pngCloses the keypad and contact directory.
toggle.pngToggles between the keypad and contact directory.
addContact.pngAdds a new contact to the directory.
call.pngInitiates a voice call with the entered contact.

Incoming Call

decline.pngRejects the incoming call and sends it to the next step in your find me/follow me settings.
accept.pngAnswers the incoming call.

Current Call

mute.pngMutes your microphone.
transfer.pngTransfers the call.Transfer types include:
  • Direct Transfer = Routes a call to another party without speaking to them first.
  • Warm Transfer = Allows you to speak with the other party before transferring the call to them.
  • Send to Voicemail = Transfers the call directly to a voicemail box on your system.
hold.pngPlaces the call on hold.
add.pngPlaces the current call on hold and adds another call to the current call (three-way call).
keypadInCall.pngOpens the keypad.
endCall.pngEnds the call.
settingsInCall.pngModifies the audio settings for the current call only.

Contact Details

callContact.pngCalls the contact.
addFavorite.pngAdds the contact to your favorites.
editContact.pngEdits or deletes a contact.Note: Only contacts you have added can be edited or deleted.
sendMessage.pngSends a new SMS text or chat message.Tip: Type a new message and then press ENTER on your keyboard to send a new message.

Calls/Messages

Voicemail

play.pngPlays the voicemail message.
markAsPlayed.pngMarks the voicemail message as played.
